For Photo LA 2020’s First Digital Programing, BJ Panda Bear moderated several discussions which bent and expanded on the identities of a what a modern photographer has to adapt to in the current art and editorial markets. Panels included Grit and Glam, Photographers Who Muse, Shooting Today's Stars, Skate 360, The New Gen.

BJ Panda Bear is an Editor, Consultant, Content Producer, and DJ who is focused on the digital realm of media spanning the fields of art, music, fashion, culture, and wellbeing. More recently in addition to being the Digital Editor of Flaunt Magazine, he helped to launch the magazine's Detox vertical which focused on mental and physical health as well as luxury wellbeing. He now heads the subversive wellness and lifestyle platform QooA.

Pat Martin is an American photographer, based in Los Angeles. In 2019 he won the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize for portraits of his mother. He uses photography to connect with personal memories, while also working to understand his own relationship with time. He sees the present as an opportunity to build upon an empty family album, while finding new connections through portraiture.

Nolwen Cifuentes is a self-taught portrait photographer based in Los Angeles. She was born and raised in the desert of California to multi-racial immigrant parents, an upbringing that has greatly inspired her work. Nolwen is best known for capturing a mix of raw and dreamy portraiture. Her interests lie in shifting social consciousness, breaking down gender norms, and representation. Nolwen photographs musicians, actors, activists, business people, socially conscious brands, and any humans she finds interesting. From Durango, Colorado, Noah Dillon's work grapples with questions of alienation and identity in the American West. Dillon has shot photographs for Nike, Gucci, North Face, Maison Margiela, and shown his work across the country and around the world.

Brandon Bowen is a photographer and image-maker based in downtown Los Angeles who trained at ArtCenter College of Design. His aesthetic, marked by indistinct silhouettes and dim lighting His work can be seen with Lady Gaga’s retro-futuristic Chromatica campaign, to shooting The Weeknd for King Kong magazine, and capturing breakthrough rapper Rico Nasty for  The Collections, the signature mood of Bowen’s work is beginning to make mainstream inroads.

Samira Larouci is a London-based journalist, editor, and presenter with a decade's worth of experience across both print and digital platforms. She has intimately curated and predicted the zeitgeist for a new generation of content consumers, contributing to publications such as Vogue Italia, L'Uomo Vogue, Casa Vogue, Dazed, i-D, and CR Fashion Book.

Zorah Olivia is a professional photographer based in Los Angeles, California. Zorah is committed to telling the human stories of individuals around the world through her portrait and action sports photography.

Braydon Szafranski is an American professional skateboarder. He began skating at the age of 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada and is sponsored by Baker Skateboards, Comune clothing Hubba Wheel, Active Ride Shop, Zenetti wheels, Brooklyn Project and Independent Truck Company.

Panelists

Parker Day is a portrait photographer based in Los Angeles, California, whose work deals with the expression and perception of identity. She emerged with a series of 100 colorful character portraits shot on 35mm film called ICONS, which had its debut solo show at Superchief Gallery LA in 2017. She has since had solo shows at Superchief Gallery Miami and New York and Peyer Fine Art in Zurich, Switzerland. Her work has been featured in Vogue Italia, Juxtapoz, Vice, i-D, Paper, and Dazed, among others. Not a Cult published her monographs ICONS and Possession.

Dana Boulos is a Film Director, Photographer, Creative Consultant, and DJ currently living in Los Angeles. Boulos was first known for her work as a freelance fashion photographer featured in Vice, I-D, Wonderland, Oyster Magazine, Vogue Japan as well as many other publications. Her work ranges from directing for music videos, commercials for Gucci, Mercedes Benz, Farfetch, Glossier, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Urban Decay, and more.

Mynxii White is an award-winning Photographer, Creative Director, Producer and makeup artist. She has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry to bring her unique creativity to every person with whom she works. She is currently a featured educator for the Mastered Program with Nick Knight as well as Beauty Editor at Schon! Magazine.

Andi Elloway is a portrait, fashion, and lifestyle photographer based in Los Angeles. Her work often tells a story via first person narrative and has been compared to gonzo journalism. Elloway takes inspiration from skate culture, travel, and casual rebellion.
